Acabo de enterarme por close2u de que hoy es el día de acción del blog por el medio ambiente.La cuestión es que ya hace tiempo que no hablo de chocolate (aunque sigue estando presente en mi vida. Últimamente en versión negro 70% sin azucar. ¡Buenísimo!)y visitando la página amigos del chocolate, leí esta triste noticia: Al inicio de la primavera, el cacaotal se cubre con una capa de humedad un poco más densa de la normal, y aparecen los insectos en abundante numero, muchos de ellos acuden a desovar y otros a devorar. Entre todos ellos, existe una diminuta mosca llamada Lolka, cuya participación es fundamental para el desarrollo del cacao pues es la única capaz de hacer el laberíntico recorrido en el interior de la flor del cacao, para polinizar y así fertilizar la planta, sin ella el cacao no existiría.Sin embargo, la destrucción al ritmo acelerado de las pluviselvas neotropicales, no nos permite visualizar la probable perdida de esta valiosa polinizadora.Siendo el cacao, un cultivo alrededor de todo el cinturón ecuatorial, hoy en día, frecuentemente encontramos plantaciones abiertas, en lugar de estar bajo otra especie protectora más alta y frondosa, como era originalmente cultivado, dando por resultado, en casi más del 30% de la producción mundial perdida por causa de plagas y enfermedad, las cuales han sido combatidas en Asia, con fungicidas, pesticidas y herbicidas, resultando en una tremenda perdida de bio-diversidad, contaminando increíblemente los mantos freáticos, ríos y manantiales.En Asia, África y América del Sur, grandes áreas de pluviselva han sido reemplazadas por plantaciones de cacao, al final de un ciclo terrible de devastación que terminara irremediablemente en pasturas de ganado, agotando los nutrientes de la tierra, orillando a los hombres a destruir más áreas de pluviselva, y desplazando a especies tan valiosas como la que originó este comentario. Jól elvoltunk itt vagy egy órát.********************************************A postára nem jutottunk el délelőtt.Apa viszont hazajött mire Emma kelt.Fél 3-kor felöltöztünk és úgy döntöttünk elsétálunk a kispostára a vasútállomáshoz.Emma jól elfárad a motorral és visszafelé majd hintázunk a játszótéren.Induláskor Emma hisztizni kezdett, hogy Ő nem akar motorozni, hanem biciklizni akar és már vette is fel a bukósisakot. Bár csak a kapu felett kukucskáltunk be hozzájuk, de igy is látszik, hogy nagyon szép lesz.A játszótéren nem volt még senki igy egy fél órás játék után elsétáltunk a boltba.Vagyis Emma felült Apa biciklijének a vázára ami nagyon tetszett neki.Kicsit kiakadtam a boltba, mert csak Zewa zsepi volt sokszáz forintért.Nem is vettem.Amikor visszamentünk a játszóra jött Máté meg Dalma.

Da ich jetzt aber nach Bremen gezogen bin, und meine Freunde und Bekannte und meine Familie noch in Twistringen leben, habe ich die Feier auf den Samstag verlegt. Dann hatte ich noch einen neuen Kuchen gebacken, und wenn man meinen Kollegen und Kolleginnen glauben darf, war der auch noch lecker. Bei dieser Gelegenheit: Kennt jemand einen guten Italiener, der freundlich, gut und nicht zu teuer ist und in der Nähe vom Hauptbahnhof liegt? Wenn ich es gleich noch schaffe, schaue ich noch schnell bei Gayromeo vorbei (deren Server hängen mal wieder) und dann geht’s ab ins Bett.

This ancient offense-defense cycle was made modern by the machine gun and the tank, then by warplanes and anti aircraft guns, and, ultimately, by ballistic missiles and antiballistic missiles.In 1967, Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara analyzed the structure of this dynamic to argue for a halt to it. “Were we to deploy a heavy ABM system … the Soviets would clearly be strongly motivated so to increase their offensive capability as to cancel out our defense advantage.” Not only would the mutual escalation, launched in the name of defense, be futile and wasteful, but it would make war more likely rather than less.At the end of his Pentagon tenure, McNamara had arrived at the central paradox of the nuclear age - how defense and offense had taken on opposite meanings, with the former having become the inevitable precursor of the latter. In opposing the deployment of the ABM, the American defense chief was breaking with the oldest pattern of human belligerence.This counterintuitive repudiation of defense was soon embraced across the right-left political divide, with Richard Nixon and Henry Kissinger becoming its champions. The idea, enshrined in the 1972 treaty according to which Moscow and Washington jointly forswore the antiballistic missile, was arguably the most important intellectual achievement of the Cold War.Defense could no longer be simplistically defined as moral, with offense as immoral, because the two were halves of the same nut. The tragedy is that it ignores the lesson that had already been so well learned four decades ago.A consensus has lately developed that the Bush administration’s worst legacy will be tied to the disastrous war in Iraq, but that may be wrong.The resuscitation of the fantasy of missile defense, and with it the raising from the dead of the arms race, may result in catastrophes in comparison to which Iraq is benign.

Interessant dabei, dass nicht unbedingt die Popularität ausschlaggebend für die Platzierung war, sondern in wie fern das jeweilige Spiel revolutionäre Impulse für die gesamte Spielebranche gegeben hat.Über die Plätze 1 und 2 kann man wohl streiten, aber davon abgesehen finde ich die Liste recht stimmig.

Um den Heli in Betrieb zu nehmen, klickt man die Trimmung von Gas / Pitch klein wenig nach unten, um ihn daraufhin wieder in die Normalposition zu schieben. Dieser mischt einen (statischen) Anteil vom Hauptrotor in den Heckrotor ein, um eben ein ausscheren des Hecks bei Zu- oder Abnahme zu unterdrücken.Machmal, gerade bei argen Manövern oder wenn dem Heli der Wind nicht von vorne erfasst, hört man ein unstetiges Ventilatorgeräusch. Dies wird durch den Heckrotor respektive den Gyro verursacht, der den Heckausschlag korrigieren will Nichts beunruhigendes. Wandert der Pitchhebel zusehend gegen Anschlag und der Hubschrauber ist nur noch dort in Schwebezustand zu halten, empfiehlt sich zu landen und den Akku aufzuladen.

Array After 7th, when both class got combined in one class, I was thrown to 4th position, with Vikas, Shubhangi, Sujit and sometimes Kiran, Sachin ahead of me. I feel alone for almost first 6 months, till I met the students of my level in the class, who used to sit at the other corner. But then, in 12th when I joined the Tiwari classes, in the vacation, I found that scoring above 85% is not that difficult. I don’t know my ranking in the class, but why should I be bothering about that? I have already joined two classes for 4th sem, and then again I joined two more crash courses. All the other students in the class were joyous after the result of 4th sem, as everybody scored a lot. Many people who were at my level, failed to get first class overall, but I manage.First class in degree was a very high achievement for me, considering my miserable failures at the start. No doubt I was in the last five student of the class.

I have some pictures of various stages of the lab project. Not uploaded yet, unfortuantely, but I got the oscilloscope to do some rather bizarre things.In the subbasement, they use psi. I think 1 bar is about 15 psi, so I can convert, if I want to. But seriously, anything higher than about 30 psi falls into the ‘pretty high pressure’ section of my head. I don’t really have any intuition for that sort of thing.But it did get me thinking on imperial units. For example, length;It starts with the inch, 12 inches make a foot. 3 feet (foots? I don’t think so…) make a yard. 5.5 yards make a pole, rod or perch. 4 poles make a chain, while 10 chains form 1 furlong. And then 8 furlong make 1 mile, and 3 miles make a leauge. Also, there is the ‘link’, but it’s even less tidy that those - it falls between the inch and the foot, it’s 100/792 inches, apparently, or 1/100th of a chain.And measures of area are lengths squared, but also there are special ones, 1 rood is 1 furlong by 1 rod, and a acre is a furlong by a chain. And now onto Volume - The Imperial gallon was based on the volume of 10 lb of distilled water weighed in air with brass weights with the barometer standing at 30 in and at a temperature of 62

The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity collected the reports in December 2004 and reported the data on a Web site in July 2005.I’m no more a fan of subsidizing business than I am of subsidizing individuals, but this report is extremely misleading.  First, businesses shouldn’t be paying people based on how many children they have.  Employers don’t (and shouldn’t) be in the business of subsidizing individual preferences - wages are based on the job, not the person.Second, I would argue that people with jobs that pay 8,000/year are much better off than people without any jobs at all.  And if you are the sole provider for a family of four and this job is your only income you are a questionable parent at best, but more likely you are just lazy.Good Jobs First wants companies to report on even more data, including whether the subsidized jobs include healthcare.  While I commend the organization for wanting to find out whether the tax dollars the state spends is getting put to good use, forcing companies to spend money on reporting just means that fewer jobs will be created.

Recently, coalition forces seized 240-millimeter rockets that had been manufactured in Iran this year and that had been provided to Iraqi extremist groups by Iranian agents. The attacks on our bases and our troops by Iranian-supplied munitions have increased in the last few months —despite pledges by Iran to help stabilize the security situation in Iraq. On August 28, the very day Bush was playing up the dangers from Iran, the IAEA released a note of understanding between the IAEA and Iran on the key issue of inspection. The IAEA announced: “The agency has been able to verify the non-diversion of the declared nuclear materials at the enrichment facilities in Iran and has therefore concluded that it remains in peaceful use.” The IAEA deputy director said the plan just agreed to by the IAEA and Iran will enable the two to reach closure by December on the nuclear issues that the IAEA began investigating in 2003. My basic work commute is about 6 miles round trip, but I have been running lots of errands and making lots of long cuts on the way home.I have continued hitting my ride to work every day streak this year. A team of children who are interested in organic farming can go to villages to propogate this. We believe it can become a part of their thinking only by doing it with full involvement and enjoying it.We are also trying to convince parents to adopt organic farming techniques on at least 1 acre land.Working for the community- Baal Melas in 15 villagesThe team of student teachers and the Amazon and Nile group children went around govt. The travel of about 15 children was paid by the school teachers or Sarpanch. group games, songs, science experiments, drawing, origami, story telling and looking at nails and lice through a microscope.This is an activity which children can manage on their own and is also useful educationally. But this could not happen.Malnutrition Survey in 5 villagesEvery year a health survey is done by children. The children discovered the power of campaigning and speaking out.The children also prepared health supplements and sold about 50 kg of it at cost price.The children also learn about medicinal plants and ways of preparing ayurvedic medicine. This year children prepared balms for headache and cold, syrup for anemia and cough syrup with Dr. Varma’s helpSchool Health ProgrammeThis is a new programme that we started this year with Dr. Varma. The idea was to interact with school children and make them aware about seasonal health problems and malnutrition, healthy diet etc. The children consult books from the library and write about their questions and later discuss in class.Another aspect of science teaching is the social aspect of science. I also got a fantastic Harvard Business School pen (clearly the highlight).After a nice little wait in the waiting area, my interviewer came to get me. How I decided to go with my first job, about my job experiences, current position and roles, switching jobs, the job market when I left school (it was crappy), etc. Why I wanted an MBA, what I wanted to do after, how I could do that if those types of jobs aren’t recruited for on campus, etc. Maybe a better, more prepared answer to the why MBA and what I want to do after, since for me, that could vary somewhat - my ‘dream jobs’ all have similarities, though.Wharton is in about 2 weeks and I’m going to campus again.Feel free to ask me questions if I wasn’t thorough enough.

Earnings continued to come in and this week we saw 93 of the 500 companies that make up the S&P 500 report. Share holders of AT&T will receive 0.77942 shares of SBC common stock or about 8.41 per share and a .30 cash dividend. In corporate earnings news this week Northrop Grumman (NOC), PepsiCo (PEP), Disney (DIS), Google (GOOG), Chubb Corp (CB), Sherwin Williams (SHW) and AFLAC (AFL) all exceeded analyst earnings estimates. The company’s fourth quarter net rose to 04 million or sh.71 per share. Excluding items the company reported earnings of sh.90 per share well ahead of Wall Streets estimates of only sh.77 per share. Chubb Corp (CB) report that their net income increased six times to 67.6 million or .39 per share ahead of analyst estimates. The company also reported that their full year 2004 net income increased 91% over the prior year to .55 billion or .01 per share. The insurance company also gave 2005 operating income guidance of .60 - .00 per share. Paint manufacture Sherwin-Williams (SHW) reported earnings of 2.5 million or sh.57 per share, which is a 6.5% increase over the same period last year. The company earned 93.3 million or .72 per share for the full 2004 year. The company also increased their earnings outlook to sh.47 to sh.51 per share from sh.45 to sh.48 per share.
